Leicester overview

Visitors to the city of Leicester will first notice how many roads there are into the city centre. Most of the major routes in are along straight roads, for which we have the Romans to thank for after they founded the city in 50 AD. Shopping here is a common and popular pastime and there are many malls, centres and streets lined with shops and stalls of all sizes. Leicester is one of the most culturally diverse communities in the country and you can shop in the giant air-conditioned shopping centres or soak up the culture in the Indian or Polish districts. The National Space Centre, Twycross Zoo and a whole host of museums and art galleries await visitors to this vibrant city.
